The 2006 vintage was one of the smallest for some time. Yields were unaffected by drought or frost. The season produced medium sized berried Pinot Noir with intense colours and flavours.

Picking began around the second week of April and progressed from the warmer through to the cooler sites within the vineyard. The desired harvest maturities were achieved given the low yields despite dry and mild conditions. Fermentation took place in small one and two tonne fermenters.

The wine spends over twelve months in a combination of new and older French oak barriques. Once blended the wine is coarsely filtered and allowed bottle age prior to release.

This wine is intensely coloured, featuring crimson tints and bright appearance. The nose is elegant yet intensely perfumed. Red fruits and toasty oak predominate. Hints of leather and spice advise of what’s to come. The palate is fruit driven, with classy oak handling providing both complexity and balance. Firm, yet fine, grained tannins combine to produce a wine with great flavour persistence.
